COMMENT / THE HOUSE

Why there is no press review here

This section does not republish other people's news, and not out of laziness: it is the only correct thing to do, towards the writers and the readers.

Facts belong to nobody; the telling belongs to someone

That a player moved from one club to another is a fact, and facts belong to nobody: anyone may report them. What belongs to the writer is the article — the words chosen, the order, the angle.

So citing the source does not make a copy lawful. Citation is a duty, not a permission. Italian law allows reproduction of topical articles only where it has not been expressly reserved, and every publisher reserves it. Short quotation for comment or discussion, with source and author, remains allowed.

And there is a practical reason

Sites that live by republishing others give readers no reason to come to them rather than to the source. If the news is identical, read it where it was written.

Advertising network policies say the same thing more sternly: content gathered elsewhere without adding anything is grounds for exclusion, not a grey area.

What you will find instead

What this site can say and others cannot: what it changes for people who play. A transfer is news elsewhere; here what matters is that the player is now worth less at the February auction, and why.

When we discuss something that happened outside, it will be in our own words with a link to where we read it. The code enforces that rule: a piece classified as news without a source fails the tests and never ships.
