  1. Art. 1The league

The league has 8 teams. The season is a round robin home and away, for 14 matchdays in total.

The calendar is drawn before matchday one, in front of everyone or in a verifiable way, and does not change afterwards.

  2. Art. 2The squad

Each team holds a squad of 25 players: 3 goalkeepers, 8 defenders, 8 midfielders and 6 forwards.

Every role must be filled by the end of the auction. A player eligible for more than one role fills a single slot, decided when he is bought.

  3. Art. 3The auction

Each team has 500 credits. The opening bid on any player is 1 credit and every raise must be at least 1 credit.

The auction runs by call: in a fixed order, each participant proposes a name and bidding opens on it. Whoever calls is not obliged to buy.

A player is sold when the auctioneer has called the third count. After the sale the auctioneer states player, price and buying team out loud before opening the next lot.

  4. Art. 4The compulsory reserve

No team may make a bid that would leave it unable to cover its remaining empty slots at 1 credit each.

Example: with 25 slots to fill, a bid is valid only if, after the purchase, the team still holds at least as many credits as it has empty slots. A bid breaking this rule is void even if the auctioneer accepted it.

  5. Art. 5Simultaneous bids

If two participants call the same amount at the same time, the bid the auctioneer states they heard first stands. The auctioneer's decision is final.

  6. Art. 6Bonuses and penalties

The following apply to each player's mark: Goal scored +3; Assist +1; Penalty saved +3; Yellow card −0.5; Red card −1; Penalty missed −3; Own goal −2; Goal conceded by the keeper −1.

A conceded goal counts once per goal. A player without a mark does not count as zero: he is replaced under the line-up article.

  7. Art. 7From points to result

The matchday total is the sum of the eleven scores. The first goal comes at 66 points and one more is added every 6 points after that.

Below 66 points a team scores zero: there are no negative results. The table awards 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a defeat.

Ties in the table are broken, in order, by: head-to-head, goal difference, goals scored, total season points.

  8. Art. 8The line-up

Line-ups are due before the first match of the round kicks off, with eleven starters and a bench in priority order.

Anyone who does not submit keeps the previous round's line-up. A starter without a mark is replaced by the first eligible bench player who has a mark and fits the formation.

If fewer than eleven players with a mark remain after substitutions, the missing places count as zero.

  9. Art. 9The repair auction

A repair auction is held within ten days of the winter transfer window closing. Each team may release and re-buy at most 4 players.

Each team receives 30 extra credits, added to whatever remains from the summer auction.

All released players go into a single pool and are auctioned again. At the end every squad must be complete in every role.

  10. Art. 10A team withdrawing

If a team leaves the league, it is removed from the table and every match already played against it is voided, with the table recalculated.

  11. Art. 11Changing these rules

These rules may be changed only by an absolute majority of teams, and any change takes effect from the matchday after approval.

No change applies to matchdays already played. Anything not covered here is decided by the league organiser, after consulting the other teams.

GUIDE / LEAGUE RULES

What to put in your league rules

The rules that actually matter, the ones you can skip, and the four questions to answer before anyone asks them.

Why rules matter, even among friends

Rules are not for the person who writes them: they are for the person who, in February, is certain they are right. If the text exists and is dated, the argument ends in thirty seconds.

You do not need a long document. You need a few decisions taken in advance, because taken afterwards they are not decisions but grievances.

The right moment is before the auction, not before matchday one. Half the rules that matter are about the auction itself.

The four questions that cannot wait

First: what happens when two people call the same amount at once. Either the auctioneer decides with no appeal, or the lot reopens at that amount. Deciding case by case does not work.

Second: what happens to whoever runs out of credits before filling the squad. The clean answer is to forbid bids that would leave a team without one credit per empty slot.

Third: what to do about the bye, with an odd number of teams. Average points, or an assigned result. Decide before matchday one.

Fourth: what happens if a team quits. Void the matches played against it, or leave it in the table with forfeits. Neither is painless, which is exactly why it must be chosen while it suits nobody in particular.

The rules almost everyone forgets

Bench order. If a starter has no mark, who comes in? The first bench player with a mark who fits the formation — obvious until the first one is a defender and a forward is missing.

A line-up not submitted. Does the previous week's stand, or is it zero? The first is gentler and keeps people in the league.

The date and format of the repair auction. Fixing it in August changes how everyone plays the first half of the season.

How the rules change. A majority, effective from the next matchday: without that line, every amendment becomes a negotiation.

What is better left out

Rules nobody can verify in thirty seconds. Bonuses for shots or distance covered stop being applied after three rounds, and an unapplied written rule undermines the others.

Disproportionate sanctions. A first late line-up deserves last week's team, not expulsion.

Rules written against one person. They are recognised immediately and do more damage than what they meant to prevent.

Where to keep it

Anywhere everyone can read it again: a pinned message, a shared document, a pdf. What matters is that nobody can claim not to have known, and that it carries a date.

The generator above produces a laid-out document: from the print dialog choose Save as PDF and send it before the auction. Nothing is stored and no account is needed.
